Phillip Lim, you have managed to create a collection that stays true to yourself, and bravo for that. Although it makes me want to eat candy.
As some key trends have already been established at New York (such as mesh, peplums, big florals and bright colours) it was refreshing to see this collection, not only because of its fresh, sweety inspired colour palette, but also because you can imagine yourself wearing every single piece. which is unusual in a RTW collection!
I have highlighted my favourite looks below, the ones that I would be proud to own...aaah sigh...if only.
The peach, mauve lilac and white combination works brilliantly...and somehow does not feel too girly. I expect this is because the shapes used are so current (which have a masculine approach to the cut- no frills allowed!!) but also because of the clever use of layering.
A perfect example of this would be the use of stripe inserts to jazz up simple shift sport tops. It adds depth and subtle colour, and makes you totally want to touch it. FACT.
If by next summer I am totally broke (highly likely) finding myself in the citay instead of on a beach somewhere and, by some miracle I find these outfits wrapped very nicely outside my front door with a note saying "wear me", I will be showcasing these and showing city people how "city chic" is done.
One can wish.
