Keep things simple and you'll go far...

I have just looked at Gilles Mendel's RTW collection (J Mendel) for SS12...and boy I was blown away.  Not only is he a master of fur, but wovens now too!

Although not in your face (except perhaps the midnight blue black encrusted maxi dress and pieces) I simply cannot stop looking at it...
He has kept things simple in terms of shaping, but to liven up the collection he has used beautiful fabrics such as silk chiffon and exciting colour combinations.  Enter white/light peach/black/green, black/yellow/nude/white, black/white/cobalt blue/grey.  If colour blocking was going to be your theme, these would be the colours to choose!  They work exquisitevely together.

The overall feel of the collection is sporty/modern but with minimal detailing, the emphasis is about placement of colour panels and mix match of prints on the simple shapes.

I think I am in love with the third/fourth outfit...I am getting a strong feeling about green as a key colour in SS12 trends...and there's definately something about jade....
