Always been a fan of the Schouler boys...and this season is no exception.
Proenza Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez showed a collection whose foundation was highly inspired by a sense of place...and this place is a magical place called Hawaii.
This is obvious in the type of prints they have used- large scale exotic flowers and motifs, however, they did not go for the oh-so-obvious colour scheme of fuschia pinks, acqua blues and tropical rainforest greens. Thank goodness for that! What they did do is combine the exotic motifs with a more subdued (yet still bright enough to indicate that it is a summer collectin) colour palette. Jade, Canary Yellow and orange, paired with black and white shading = a lovely retro feel.
Although the colour palette had a decisively retro feel, the shapes they have used could not have been more modern; shift tops with unfitted sleeve hems, sporty contrast colour blocked bra tops, large sleeve collared shirts..all paired with midi lenght A-Line skits and flared shorts. A-mazing.
I am personally in love with the first two looks (seen below)...HELLO leather printed stripes! RRRRRRRRRR......what a wonderful combination!! I expect that there will be many a copies of this on the high street...probably converted into wovens...which I dont hate the idea of...however, I need and I must have those shorts exactly as they are...please note now that I will blog for money.
